The article is composed of three constituents, viz., the st-irrup, A, the catch-lever, B, and the furcated hook C.
The st-irrup, formedof metal, as shown' in tig. 4, is,'
when yin use, to be suspended from the upper strap,
D, of a carriage-boot cover, E, applied in the usual .manner to a flasher, F.
The' furcated hook C, foi-med as shown in front view in Figure 5,.and in side view in Figure 6,-is, when in use, to be applied to the lower strap, G, of the said boot-cover. .u
The lever-catch B, formed as exhibited in front view V,Figure 7, and in side View in vFigure 8, is arranged between thc prongsot` the book C, and pivoted thereto,
the fulcrurn-pin a'going through the prongs and' Jthe said part C, and being arranged therein iu manner as represented.
When the parts of the fastener are coupled to-` gether inl manner as shown in figs. 1,2, and 3, the stirrup will be held, in connection with thefurcated hook, by the catch-levermh Ou lifting the longer arm ot'sncb catch-lever, the shorter arm will be caused to pry-the stirrup out ot' connection with the furcated hook, so'as to admit ot 'the stirrup being drawn ott' both the said hook and thecat-ch-lever.
The operation and value of the above-described boot-fastener will be readily apparentA at a glance to carriage-makers, and mos tit` not all persons owning 0r using carriages provided with boots, as with the said fastener the securing down of the boot-cover, or the uniastening of it when needed, becomes a. work of easy and certain accomplishment.
I claim as my invention- The carriage-boot-cover fastener, as described, as composed of the stirrup A, the furcated hook C, and the catch-lever B, constructed and arranged substantially'in the manner, and to operate together, as hercinbetore explained.
