MARC CHIRADE AND JOSEPH CANAC, OF PARIS, FRANCE.
PROCESS FOR DIRECT NICKELING OF AIlUMINIUM 0R ALLOYS CONTAINING ALUMINIUM.
1,030,972, Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented July 2, 1912.
Application filed November 6, 1911. Serial No, 658,734.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that we, MARC CHIRADE and JosErH OA'NAo, engineers, citizens of the- French Republic, residing in Paris, France, with post-office address care of J. P. Bonnicart, 16 Place de la Rpublique, Paris,
France,. have invented 'a new and useful Process for, Direct Nickeling of Aluminium or Alloys Containing Aluminium, of which thefollowing is a specification.
The invention relates to improvements in processes of direct aluminium nickeling.
The object of the invention is to enable any article of pure aluminium or alloy containing same, to be nickeled directly. This object is attained by the following process:
1. Immerse the article to be nickeled'in tepidwater, next Wash it in ordinary water containing 2 per cent. of cyanid of potassiu The article is left about 30'seconds in t elatter composition and then Washed with very clean water. 2. Immerse the article, after the above treatment, in the following composition: hydrocholoric acid 1} liter, distilled water liter, chlorid of iron, 1 gram.
3. Wash the article inclean water and immerse in nickel bath by furnishing an electrical current of three volts; after: five minutes, again wash in boiling water, prefer dry by any convenient iron and finally placing it in a nickel bath under electrical current of three volts, all substantially asset forth.
