IMPROVEMENT IN GRUBBIN G-IMPLEMEN T.
The Schedule referred. to in these Letters Patent and making part of 'che same.
VG rove township, inthe county ofSehuylkill aud State of Pennsylvania, have'invented a new and valuable Improvement in GrubbiugJInstuments; and I do hereby declare thatthc following is'a full, clear, and-.ex-
act description of the construction and operation of .the same, reference being had to the annexed drawings makinga vpart of this specification, and to thelet-v ters and figures of reference marked thereon.

The letter A of the drawings-designates the lever,
vusually constructed of tough wood or iron.
Y. Through the lower end of the lever, ii'om side to side, is formed the -slot a, in which are pivoted the -ends of the hooks B B.

The lower front end of the lever has a projecting beveled Hauch, e, by means ot' which a purchase is obtained on the face of the sapling or stump.

, W'hen it is desired to pull up a sapling, the leveris placed on end alongside thereof, andthe hooks B B are driven into the sapling. rlhe handle of the lever is now borne down, and the sapling thereby pulled up.
For pulling small shrubbery or stumps the forked hook D is used, 'the lever being set on en'd and the 'prongs driven under the roots.
