'EDWIN R. PENNEBAKER, OF ROME, GEORGIA.
SAFETY ATTACHMENT FOR WATCH-POCKETS.
ApplicationA filed December 3, 1910.
To all whomz' may concern Be it known that I, EDWIN R. PENNE- BAKER, a citizen of the United States, residing at Rome, in the county of Floyd and State of Georgia, have invented new and useful Improvements in Safety Attachments for 1Watch-Pockets, of which the following is a speciiication.
This invention relates to safety attachments for watch pockets and the object of the invention is the provision of a simple, eii'icient and readily applied device which will effectually hold and prevent accidental disengagement of the watch from the pocket.
A further object of the invention is the provision of means for guiding the watch into the holder and for causing said guiding means to retain the device within the pocket.
Further objects of the invention will appear as the following specic description is read in connection with the accompanying drawing which forms a part of this application, and in which:
Figure l is a horizontal section taken through a garment pocket showing the device applied. Fig. 2 is a vertical sectional view. Fig. 3 is a perspective view of the device removed from the pocket.v
Referring more particularly to the drawing 1 represents the pocket of the garment which is provided with button holes or suitable reinforced apertures 2 in its sides adjacent the upper end thereof. Mounted in the pocket is the holding attachment Specification of Letters Patent.

which comprises an approximately circular spring clip 3 having its upper ends laterally extended to form guides 4L and its sides provided with inwardly extending retaining lingers 5. The upper ends are provided with curved extremities 6 which enter the apertures 2 in the pocket and prevent the removal of the clip therefrom. They also serve as guides which render the insertion of the watch into the clip relatively easy. I preferably line the clip and the fingers with some suitable material such as velvet or chamois so that the watch will not be scarred in placing the same in the clip or removing the same therefrom.
Having thus described the invention, what is claimed isln a device of the class described, a substantially U-shaped unitary spring clip adapted to be mounted in a pocket, a plurality of pairs of laterally and inwardly projecting fingers on opposite sides of the clip adapted to prevent lateral displacement of an article from the clip, longitudinally and outwardly extending fingers' adapted to pass through the walls of a pocket to prevent accidental displacement of the clip from said pocket, and a cushioning lining secured on the inner surface of the clip and fingers.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
