To all whom. it may concern:

Be it known that I, IRvING KAUFMAN," a citizen of the United St-ates, residing at Baltimore city, State of Maryland, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Pin-Tickets, of which the following is a specification. j

My invention relates to improvements in pin tickets or tags, and particularly to that class of such devices which are adapted to be used for marking goods to indicate the cost and sale price and other memoranda, and has for'its object the production of a novel and etlicient pin ticket or tag adapted to be fastened to fabrics of various kinds, such as clothing or other objects as may be desired.

The further object of the invention is to provide a ticket or tag of this character whereby the pin or fasteners are covered or protected in such a manner that they will not enter or catch upon adjacent articles or materials, nor injure the hands of those who are called upon to handle the ticketed obects. l l With the foregoing objects in View, my invention consists in certain novel features of construction, and combinations of parts which will be hereinafter described and pointed out in the claim.

In the accompanying drawings forming a part of this specification in which is illustrated a. preferred embodiment of my invention, Figure l is a perspective view of the ticket; Fig. 2 is a back view of the same as applied to a piece of fabric; Fig. 3 is a front view similar to Fig. 2; Fig. 4 is a section on line 4 4 of Fig. 2, and Fig. 5 is an edge view with the ticket bent to permit the pins to be inserted under the flaps.

A, indicates the tag or ticket, which may be of any suitable length or width, and made from any suitable material, such as card board and the like, capable of being readily handled and easily marked. The ticket is preferably of an oblong shape, and folded at a point substantially midway its length as indicated at 1 to form the members 2 and 3. Provided in the upper end portion of the member 3 are flaps 4, cut from the body part of the member and are integral therewith, the cut portions terminating in apertures 5 to prevent the cut portion from further tearing in the operation of the device, and to permit the legs of the pin 6 to pass more freely under the flaps in the manner to be hereinafter described. These iiaps are not necessarily limited to the particular design, shape or location as shown in the drawing, but may be other than that as shown to meet the particular requirements to which the ticket is subjected. Provided in the opposite member 2, at the upper end portion thereof is secured the fastening device consisting of a staple or pin 6, provided with pointed legs 7, the fastener being of a well known staple form, and made from flexible wire, as is usual. The legs being pointed as to render them to easily penetrate the fabric to which the ticket is att-ached, the pin being preferably permanently secured to the ticket. Provided in the upper end portion of the member 3, located between the iiaps 4, and oppositely disposed to the legs 7 of the pin 6 on the member 2, is a transverse aperture or slot 8, through which the legs 7 are extended in the manner of securing the ticket on the fabric, now about to be described.

Myl invention is operated as follows: The fabric 9 or other article to which the ticket is to be attached, is inserted between the members 2 and 3 of the ticket A, the pointed legs 7 of the pin 6 made to penetrate the fabric 9, and extend through the slot 8 of the member 2, the ticket is then bent to assume `the position shown in Fig. 5, which causes the flaps 4 to open as shown in this figure, the legs 7 are then bent outwardly and downwardly upon the fabric as shown in Figs. 2 and 4, the ticket upon being released from the bent position shown in Fig. 5 will then assume its normal position, and when'in its normal position after having been secured on the fabric, the pointed legs 7 will be housed beneath the flaps 4, as shown in Figs. 2 and 4, whereby they are prevented from catching upon adjacent articles or materials, or injuring the hands of those called upon to handle the objects to which the tickets are attached.

Slight changes and alterations might be resorted to in the form and arrangement of the several parts described without departing from the spirit and scope of my invention as defined by the appended claim, and hence I do not wish to limit myself to the exact construction as herein set forth; but,
