WORK-HOLDER.
To all whom t may concern: j
Be it known that I, DORA LEE ArroHEsoN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Burtonsville, in the county of Montgomery and State of Maryland, have invented certain new and useful Improvements'in fork- Holders; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
My invention relates primarily to work holders, has especial reference to holders for supporting hats while being trimmed, has for its object a ready, simple and effective device for the purpose, which can be carried about the work room and is adapted to be placed in front of the artisan working' on a hat, and adjusted to any suitable height within her or his range and support a hat while being trimmed.
The invention consists in certain improvements which will be fully disclosed in the following specification and claim.
In the accompanying drawings, which form part of this specicationz-Figure 1 represents a side elevation, partly in section, and Fig. 2 a top plan view of my improved work holder.
Reference being had to the drawings and the designating characters thereon, the numeral 1 indicates the base or stand, the end 2 or feet of whose legs 3 are bent out horizontally so that the stand may be held in position by the feet of the artisan or they may be secured to the floor in any suitable manner. In the upper end 'of the stand is a vertical opening` 4t, to receive a rod 5 which is vertically adjustable therein to regulate the height of the work, and the rod is secured in its selected position by a thumb screw 6.
7 indicates a sleeve vertically adjustable on the rod 5 secured by thumb screw 5 and is provided with radially extending hori-` zontal arms 8 and supplemental arms 9, adjustably secured to the arms 8, by thumb screws 10 and designed to support the brim of a hat, and the supplemental arms 9, are made adjustable to accommodate brims of different dimensions. The extremities 11 of these supplemental arms are curved as shown Copies of this patent may be obtained for Specification of Letters Patent.

18 indicates a disk-like member on the upper end of the rod 5, to engage the interior of the crown of the hat.
A hat having been placed on the holder, the hand ot' the artisan can be freely inserted in the hat between the radial arms engaging the body of the hat and the trimmings sewed on with accuracy in any position in which the skill of the artisan may place them, and the hat is not subjected to being held in the lap of the artisan and the trimmings crushed and disarranged as frequently occurs in the prevailing practice of the milliners art.
It is obvious that the device is adapted for use in different styles, shapes and sizes of hats, which can be accommodated by the adjustment of the several parts of the device, and that the hat may be revolved on its support as required in trimming the hat.
Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim is In a milliners work holder, the combination with a supporting standard of a plurality of hat supporting elements, positioned in different horizontal planes, and adjustable with reference to each other and the standard, each hat supporting element including a plurality of radially disposed adjustable arms, the arms of the lower element terminating in brim supporting members and the arms of the upper hat supporting element terminating in members shaped to engage the interior of the hat.
