Description
To all whom 'it may concern i shafts of the crutch,
PETER e. winne, orfriiiiuron'nnw Jessen".
Letters Patent No. 102,901, dated M'ay 10, 1870.
IMPROVEMENT IN CRUTCEIES.
The Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent and making part of the same.
15e it known that I, PETER 1t. ` The nature of niy Yinvention consists in the vnrions motions given the erm-piece by means of the looseness with which the tubes are attached to the sume, being secured with ai. nut inside of n. brass plate, securely fastened to the cushion of the arm-piece, :nid being sufciently loose to ztllow the :trui-piece to play freely in every direction.
'lo enable others skilled in the nrt to ineke use of my invention, I will proceed to describe its construction and application.
Similar `letters-iii the drawings r parts of my invention;
Figure l represents :t
epresent similar geometrical view of a. crutch,
`showing; my improvementtherein.
Figure 2 represents a. vertical section of one oi the showing the spiral spring F and the movable tube B :it top, und the rod G extending from the diaphragm G through the, suini spiral spring and movable tube, zmdwhich rod `is :ittncned in the plate E of the arm-piece by a. inovzible nut.
lFigure 3 represents :t geometrical view of the rod C, und shows the nut c and manner it is fastened to the arm-piece. I l
Figure 4 represents n geometrica-l view of the nior- :Lble tube B, which rests upon the spring F and snp-v poits the nrinepiece.
Figure 5 represents tli'e under pl-.ite oi the erin-piece, which is secured to the cushion by three screws.
Figure 6 represents :t section of said under plate E, showing the movable tube B and nut c, tno rod. G, and the niode of fastening the snid under plate with the cushion.
VhzLt I claim us my invention, und desire to secure by Letters Patent, is`
The manner of fastening the rod t) to the :irni piece by a. nut, allowing e free motion thereof', substnntially ns setfortli and claimed in the nhove specionii'on.
