PORTABLE WATER SUPPLY AND HEATING SYSTEIVI.
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, ERASTUS L. STOCK- MAN, citizen of the United States, residing at Adams, in the county of Gage and State of Nebraska, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Portable ater Supply and Heating Systems; and I do declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
This invention relates to improvements in portable water supply and heating systems.
One object of the invention is to provide a portable water heating and supply system by means of which hot or cold water may be conveniently obtained for use in barber shops and other places which are not connected with city water systems or other source of water supply.
Another object is to provide a portable water supply and heating system adapted to be inclosed 111 a suitable cabinet.
lVith the foregoing and other objects in view, the invention consists of certain novel features of construction, combination and arrangement of parts as will be more fully described and particularly pointed out in the appended claim.
In the accompanying drawings: Figure 1 1s a perspective view showing the cabinet containing the invention; Fig. 2 is an elevation of the working parts with the tank in section; Fig. 3 is a vertical sectional view through the water supply and heating tanks; Fig. at is a rear elevation.
Referring more particularly to the drawings, 1 denotes a cold water tank which may be of any desired size and shape and which may be filled with water in any suitable manner. Connected with the tank 1 near the bottom thereof and adjacent to one side is a water heating tank 2, which is supplied with water from the main or cold water tank 1 through a water conducting pipe 3 on the end of which in the tank 2 is arranged an automatically operated supply valve 4:. Connected to the valve 4 by a suitable fleXible connection 5 is a valve closing float 6 which, when the tank 2 is full or the water therein has risen to the desired point, will close the valve and thus cut off further supply of water to the tank 2 until the water therein has been lowered, at which time the Specification of Letters Patent.
Application filed August 4, 1910.
Patented May 28,1912. Serial No. 575,572.
float will also lower to a greater or less extent thus permitting the valve to open, whereupon more water from the tank 1 will run into the tank 2. By means of the automatic water supply mechanism just described the level of the water in the tank 2 will be constantly maintained as long as any water remains in the tank 1.
Arranged below the tank 2 is a burner 7 which may be of any desired construction and is here shown as an oil burner. To the burner 7 is connected an oil supply pipe 8 leading to an oil supply tank 9 whereby fuel is supplied to the burner. In the pipe 8 is preferably arranged a valve 10 by means of which the flow of the oil to the burner is controlled.
lVith the tank 1 is connected a water dis charge pipe 11 which extends downwardly and outwardly and is provided with a draw off faucet 12. With the tank 2 is connected a discharge pipe 13 which is also provided with a faucet 14:. The tanks 1 and 2 and the parts connected therewith are preferably in closed in a suitable cabinet 15 on the front side of which is arranged a basin or lava tory 16 over which the faucets 12 and 14 are arranged. The basin or lavatory 16 is provided with a waste pipe 17 leading to a suitable waste water receptacle which may be disposed in any convenient place. The cabinet 15 is provided on its rear side with suitable doors 18 whereby access may be had to the burner and tanks and the interior of the cabinet.
By means of a water system constructed in accordance with the invention, hot or cold water may be conveniently supplied at places which are not connected with a water supply system and by inclosing the same in a cabinet as herein shown and described a neat and attractive appearance will be presented.
From the foregoing description taken in connection with the accompanying drawings the construction and operation of the 111-100 vention will be readily understood without requiring a more extended explanation.
Various changes in the form, proportion and the minor details of construction may be resorted to without departing from the principle or sacrificing any of the advantages of the invention as defined in the appended claim.
provided With faucets arranged above the basin, and means also in the casing for heating one of the tanks.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand in presence of two subscribing witnesses. ERASTUS L. STOOKMAN. Witnesses:
F. B. DRAPER, SALLIE PINNEO.
