SPRING-HINGE.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Application filed December 1, 1910. Serial No. 595,086.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, PERKINS E. HOWARD,
' a citizen of the United States, residing at Wichita, in the county of Sedgwick and State of Kansas, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Spring-Hinges; and I do hereby declare the following to be I a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
My invention relates to spring hinge, more suitable for screen and barn doors, and has for its object the production of a hinge that will throw the door shut and open as desired.
Another object is to provide means by hinge as seen when the door is opened to 180 degrees. Fig. 4, when opened to 90 degrees.
Similar numerals refer to similar parts throughout the several views. 1,-designates a section of a casing. 2, a section of a door.
My hinge is substantially in two sections,
door jamb or I 3 and 4 having right angle flanges 3 and 4.
What I claim is: v
1. In a hinge comprising two sections, each section having perpendicular flanges pivotally connected, pins pivotally uniting said section, yokes pivotally mounted upon said pins, yokes embracing the flanges of one hinge section and pivotally connected thereto, links having lateral bends pivotally Patented May 28,1912.
connected to the last named yokes, their other ends being embraced in the aforesaid yoke members and pivotally connected thereto, links pivotally connected to the other'hinge section, their other ends pivotally connected to the pivots of the aforesaid yokes.
2. In a hinge comprising two sections, each section having perpendicular flanges pivotally connected, pins pivotally uniting said section, yokes pivotally mounted upon said pins, yokes embracing the flanges of one hinge section and pivotally connected thereto, links having lateral bends pivotally connected to the last named yokes their other ends being embraced in the aforesaid yoke members and pivotally connected thereto, links pivotally connected to the other hinge section, their other ends pivot- In testimony whereof, I have signed this ally connected to the pivots of the aforespecification in the presence of two subscribsaid yokes, a plate having a perpendicular ing Witnesses.
pierced lug, and aspring to close the door PERKINS E. HOWARD. when opened less than 90 degrees and to \Vitnesses:
