Description
A. OLSON;
EGG CASE.
APPLIOATION I ILED DI3 (].17, 1909.
1,025,294. Patented May 7,1912.
ANTON OLSON, OF VIROQUA, WISCONSIN.
EGG-CASE.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented May '7, 1912.
Application filed December 17, 1909. Serial No. 533,740.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ANTON OLSON, a citi zen of the United States, residing at Viroqua, in the county of Vernon and State of Wisconsin, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Egg-Cases; and the objects of my improvement are, first, to provide a folding egg-case saving space in storage and transportation; second, when folded may be tied in bundles complete, with fillers for thirty (30) dozen eggs, in any desired size for convenient handling.
The preferred embodiment of the invention is illustrated in the accompanying drawing, wherein Figure 1 is a perspective view of the improved case set up, with the cover removed; Fig. 2 is a perspective view of the case collapsed; Fig. 3 is a perspective of one'end of the box; Fig. 4 is a perspective of the bottom of the box.
The case, as shown in said drawing, comprises essentially, a top piece or cover I, a bottom piece B, end pieces D and E, and side pieces F and G.
The bottom piece B is adapted. to support the two side pieces, which rest thereon, and is constituted by a flat plate or board of suitable material provided at its ends with tongues 0 located centrally thereof and. adapted for reception in slots or seats a formed in the central portions of the bottom edges of the two end pieces D and E. The pieces last referred to are provided at their side and bottom edges with lateral flanges a, which are coincident in length with said edges and extend inwardly across the lower face of the said bottom piece and the outer faces of the side pieces F and G, thereby holding the parts specified together when the crate is-set up. In addition to said parts, there may be provided a suitable partition plate H which is adapted to be inserted transversely of the case between the two side pieces. The cover I is likewise in the form of a flat plate or board provided at its ends with cleats 70 for facilitating han dling of the case, the end pieces being also provided for the same purpose with transverse upper and lower cleats J secured to their outer faces.
I claim as my invention:
A collapsible case comprising the two end walls each having an inwardly extending bottom flange and inwardly extending side flanges and an opening formed in the end walls at the junction of the bottom flange therewith, a removable bottom having tongues at opposite ends to fit in. the openings in the end walls when the case it set up, and side walls lying within the flanges of the end walls, said side and bottom flanges to the end walls being adapted to overlap the side walls and bottom when set-up and to receive the bottom and side walls when collapsed, substantially as described.
ANTON OLSON.
