UNITED TATE% PATEN QFIQE,

COUNTER DISPLAY AND STORAGE CASE.
-To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, LoUIs FRANK, a citizen of the United States, residing at WVilkes- Barre, in the county of Luzerne and State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Counter Display and Storage Cases; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
This invention relates to counter display and storage cases, and it consists in the novel construction hereinafter described and claimed.
In the accompanying drawings, forming part of this application, Figure 1 is a view of the case in elevation, and Fig. 2 is a vertical transverse section.
In carrying out my invention, I provide a suitable base portion 10, with a marble or other facing 11, and upright corner members 12 for supporting the upper frame 13 which holds the glass top 14: in position. A horizontal partition member 15 is located beneath the top and at such distance therefrom that room is provided for an upper drawer 16. Between the base and the horizontal partition a vertical partition 17 is located in the position shown for the purpose of separating the front portion of the case which is utilized for display purposes, from the rear portion, designed for use as a storage compartment. This compartment may contain a number of drawers 18.
The rear portion of a display case is less available for showing merchandise, when the shelves extend the full width of the case, than the front, and in many instances is practically useless, as the articles are wholly out of sight of a customer standing within a reasonable distance of the case, if the latter be of the counter variety. Moreover, when the shelves extend from the front to the rear and the rear only is provided with doors, the articles at the front can only be reached with difliculty. It is my intention to utilize all of the space to the best advantage, and I accomplish this result by providing a display compartment at the front and a storage compartment in the rear.
The vertical partition 17 is provided with beads 19 carrying adjustable brackets 20 for supporting glass shelves 21 arranged as shown in the display compartment. The

face of the vertical partition carries mirrors 22 in the form of panels, and sliding glass doors 23 operate in upper and lower grooved members 24 and 25, the latter being provided with rollers 26 for the purpose of reducing the friction.
The upper drawer 16 is intended to hold articles for display, being directly beneath glass top 1a. This drawer is provided with a glass portion 27, which need not be of the full depth of the drawer, and a fixed glass panel 28 constitutes the upper part of the front of the case.
Owing to the reflection in the mirror, the articles placed on the shelves will seem to occupy the Whole of the space from the front of the case to the rear, the storage compartment being thus well concealed.
Although I have described my invention in detail, I do not wish to be limited to the exact construction, but 'may make such changes, alterations or additions as fall within the scope of the appended claims.
\Nhat I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
1. In a display case, a case proper, transparent sliding doors constituting the front of the case, a vertical longitudinal partition spaced from said front, shelves arranged between said partition and said sliding doors, a horizontal partition extending entirely across said case proper from said sliding doors to the rear of the case proper, said horizontal partition being positioned above said vertical partition, a drawer extending for the full depth of said case proper and located above said horizontal partition, and a plurality of receptacles arranged below said drawer and in the space opposite said vertical partition.
2. In a display case, a base portion, upright corner members mounted thereon, end members for the case, a top supported by the corner members, slidable transparent doors constituting part of the front of the case, a vertical longitudinal partition spaced from the front, forming compartments, and terminating below the top, reflecting means mounted on the front of the partition, adjustable brackets also mounted thereon, transparent shelves carried by the brackets, a horizontal partition connected with the top of the vertical partition, receptacles in one of the compartments formed by the vertical partition, and a display device mounted above the horizontal partition and eX- In testimony whereof I afiix my signatending substantially the full Width of the ture in presence of two Witnesses. case, such device having a transparent front Wall and said case having a transparent LOUIS FRANK panel at the front of the horizontal parti- Htnesses:
