To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, WALTER H. BILLINGS, a citizen of the United States, residing at .Newton, county of MiddleseX, Common- I mop.
The advantage of such a device as a detachable mop lies in the possibility of removing the mop element for washing it or for replacing it when worn out.
The clamping of a mop material involves various difliculties as the mop must be securely held although the clamping member must not be such as would scratch or scar finished surfaces such as wood work, tiling and the like.
These features, together with the considerations of simplicity and effectiveness at a low cost have been made the subject of my present invention.
As an illustrative embodiment of my invention I have shown in the drawings and will particularly set forth in the following specification a form of mop holder which I have found well suited to the requirements of manufacture and well adapted to practical use. A.

4 is set in the handle end under the ferrule 2 end thus held in place within the handle end and below the nut is a recess 5 adapted to receive the end of the stem 9 which is threaded to engage the nut 1. On the end of the stem 9 area pair of arms 8 which are bent up to engage and loosely hold the jaws 10. The ferrule cap 6 is slotted to receive the jaws 10 and transversely slotted to permit the passage of the arms 8 as shown in Fig. 6. e
As shown in Fig. 1 the jaws 10 are forced together by screwing the. stem 9 into the handle end. This draws the ferrule 6 back against the rim 3 of the ferrule 2 and finally draws the jaws 10 back through their slot in the ferrule 6 thus forcing them together to clamp the mop material 11. When it is desired to release the mop material the stem is unscrewed slightly which brings the arms 8 out through the slot permitting the jaws 10 to open and release the mop 11.
