Be it known that I, (has R. Rus'r, a citizen of the United States, residing at Kansas City, in the county of Jackson and. State of Missouri, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Belt-Fastening Means, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to belt fastening means, and more especially to fastening means for mens belts, and my object is to produce means of the character indicated by which what; is usually the permanently attached end of the belt, may be instantly reliably connected. to or disconnected from the buckle.

A further object is to produce a fastening means for securing a loop reliably to the belt adjacent to the buckle for the reception of the free end of the belt when in engagementwith the buckle.

To these ends the invention consists in certain novel and peculiar features of con struction and organization as hereinafter described and claimed; and in order that it may be fully understood reference is to be had to the accompanying drawing, in

" neans of the character dethe A: leather p o tongues scribed. it w: l? n; that the belt can be readily shortened to any desired length because, if too lon it can be detached and a piece of the de ired'length severed from the end for engagement with the fastening device. it is then resecured with the loop as before. the bolt is too short it can be readily replaced by a longer one.

In a construction wherein a belt of customary length can be quickly shortened to position WlilhOUt the use of tools and other appliances, the tongue projecting from the loop is indispensable. Should the wearer at any time desire to shorten the belt, he releases it from the clamp, cuts a piece from the end released, slides the loop or keeper the proper distance from such 'end and then reclamps such end of the belt andthe tongue of the loop or keeper in position.

From the above description it Will be apparent that I have produced belt-fastening means possessing the features enumerated as desirable and I wish it to be understood that I do not desire to be restricted to the exact details of construction shown and described as required by the scope of the appended claim as obvious modifications Will suggest themselves to one skilled in the art.

I claim A belt, comprising a buckle, a clamp secured to the buckle, consisting of two members, one hinged to the other and provided with a gripping jav'wg'a strap, and a loop adjustably arranged on the strap and provided With a tongue adapted to fit flatly' against the strap at one end of the same; said end of the strap and the tongue of the loop fittingand adapted to be clampedbetween one of the members of the clamp and
