Definitions
- the object of this invention is to provide an arrangement of globe-valves whereby the valves may be ground to their seatsl at any time while in position, and whereby any obstruction getting onto the valveseat may be readily removed.
- the drawing represents a sectional elevation of a globe-valve constructed according to my improvement..
- the shell and valve-seat are constructed similar to those now in use.
- My invention consists in constructing on each of the stems A and C a hand-wheel, separated by extending the stem O, after it passes through the hollow stem A, a ⁇ suflicient distance to enable a man to hold a wheel in each hand, allowing him to loosen and tighten the lower wheel with one hand, whilst at the Sametime with the other hand he can operate the upper wheel for grinding the valve B on its seat.
- This invention will obviate the use of monkeywrenches, 8vo., and facilitate the grinding of valves on their seat-s, ⁇ and the lengthencd spring D will give the stem C an easynpward motion whilst the grinding process is taking place.

Description
MFEYERS. PHOTO-LITHOGRAPMER, WASHINGTON, n c.
datiert (States ISAAC W. BROWN, OF JEFFERSON CITY, MISSOURI.
Leners Patent No. 102,085, lated April' 19, 1870.
IMPROVEMENT IN GLOBE-VALVES.
Hrs-
The Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent and making part vof the same.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, ISAAC W. BROWN, of Jeer- 4son City, in the county of Coleand'St-ate of Missouri,
have invented a new and 'improved Globe-Valve; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof', which will enable others skilled in the art to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings forming part of this specication.
The object of this invention is to provide an arrangement of globe-valves whereby the valves may be ground to their seatsl at any time while in position, and whereby any obstruction getting onto the valveseat may be readily removed.
The drawing represents a sectional elevation of a globe-valve constructed according to my improvement..
The shell and valve-seat are constructed similar to those now in use.
My invention consists in constructing on each of the stems A and C a hand-wheel, separated by extending the stem O, after it passes through the hollow stem A, a `suflicient distance to enable a man to hold a wheel in each hand, allowing him to loosen and tighten the lower wheel with one hand, whilst at the Sametime with the other hand he can operate the upper wheel for grinding the valve B on its seat.
This invention will obviate the use of monkeywrenches, 8vo., and facilitate the grinding of valves on their seat-s,^and the lengthencd spring D will give the stem C an easynpward motion whilst the grinding process is taking place.
I claim the two hand-Wheels on the stems Aand C, when separated a sui`cient distance to enable a man to give motion to the stern A` with one band, and at the same time give a dierent motion to the stem O with the other hand, when constructed and combined with the spring D and the valve B, for the purposes set forth.
ISAAC W. BROWN.
