Letters Patent No. 102,059, dated April 19,1870.
IMPROVED GLOTHES-DRIERi The Schedule referred to in these Letters Ptent and making part of the Baume To all whom it may concern woo, in the county of IVaukesha and State of Wisconsin, 'have invented certain Improvements in Clothes- Racks; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawings andl to the letters of reference marked thereon.
My invention relates to an improvement ill clothesdriers.
The invention consists in so constructing a clothes# drier vas to econornize in room, 85e., of which the t'ollowing is a description.
Inside of the bracket ends are two vertical ways or guides, D D.
E E is a square paralleled frame, containing a groove in eitherontside edge, `corresponding to and tting upon the aforesaid ways I) I), so as to admit of the frame E E being readily raised and lowered, as shown in the black lilies below and dotted lines above.
- In frame E E are fitted two panels or light oblong frames, pivoted at their centers into the upright fra-lne E E, so that they can fully revolve upon said pivots to a horizontal or vertical position. Y
Upon the out-arms of said frames are light and suitable rods on which to hang clothes or any article to dry or air. Y
Upon the pivots at one end of both of said frames i are small pulleys, around each ot' which passes a running cord, attached to a spring at the top and to -a sliding'olilat the lower end, said clip'being attached by a slot andscrew to the bottom gilt ot' frame E E, in such position thatwhen the frame E E is raised up to its proper height, said clip comes in contact with a fixed girt, F Il", ruiming from one side ol the brackett'rame to the other. Being Lesistedby said girt, the cord and clip are drawn endwise, and rotate the at`o1esaid frames trom a vertical to a horizontal position,
