UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
ALEXANDER J. MGGAVIGK, OF CHICAGO, ILLINOIS.
FENCE-POST AND FENCE-FASTENING.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ALEXANDER J. MG- G'rAVICK, a citizen of the United States, and resident of Chicago, in the county of Cook and the State of Illinois, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Fence- Posts and Fence-Fastenings, of which the following is a specification.
The object of my invention is to provide a durable post and simple wire fastenings for woven wire fencing.
The manner in which I accomplish my object is described in the following specification and illustrated in the accompanying drawing in which Figure 1 is a front elevation of the post and fence in position. Fig. 2, is a cross section on the line 2-2 Fig. 1.
In the drawings 5 indicates a post made preferably of concrete. Extending transversely through the post from front to rear are a number of holes. These holes may be tapering as shown at 6 Fig. 2. Supported in these holes are tie wires 7. One end of each of these wires is looped as shown at 9 in Fig. 2. The fencing 10 is placed against the face of the post and the tie wires are then inserted in the holes in the post, the horizontal wires of the fence resting on the Specification of Letters Patent.
Application filed January 13, 1911.

tie wire. A stay wire 11 is then passed down through the looped ends of the tie wires in front of the fence wires. The projecting ends 12 of the tie wires are folded against the back of the post and twisted till the stay wire and fencing are drawn tight against the face of the post as shown in Figs. 1 and 2.
What I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent is The combination with a post having transverse tapering holes extending therethrough each of said holes being formed to admit a double wire at the face of said post and a single wire at the rear side, single tie .wires looped at one end to encircle a bar,
and to reenter the large end of said hole, the other ends of said wires being twisted and bent at right angles to the center line of said post, a bar held vertically in the said looped ends of said wires, whereby said bar and wires are adapted to hold fence wires against the face of said post as described.
