FRANK A. COL LIED, OF GALVESTQN, TEXAS.
Specification of Letters Patent. Application filed November 16, 1910. Serial No. 592,728.
COMBINATION COAT AND PANTS HANGER.
Patented Feb. 20, 1912.
To all whom it mag concern:
Be it known that I, FRANK A. COLLIER, a citizen of the United States, residing at Galveston, in the county of Galveston and State of Texas, have invented new and use- ,ful ImpIl-ovements in Combination Coat and Pants angers, of which the following is a specification. W/
This invention relates to combined coa and trousers hangers, and the object of the invention is to provide a device of this character primarily constructed of wire and eat rigidlty so as to prolong the life of t e hanger and retain the same in a proper.
in accordance with the present invention.
Fig. 2 is a perspective view of the reinforcingmember and the trousers hanger connected therewith. Fig. 3 is a detail vertical sectional view illustratin the manner of forcing the strips, forming the trousers lhen r, together. Fig. 4 is a view of the In the accompanying drawings the numeral 1 designates the improved trousers hanger. This hanger 1 has its-body portion constructed of wire of a suitable gage and comprises a centrally arranged, preferabl independent hook 2 to which are secured the oppositely arranged hanger arms 3 and4. Each of t ese arms 3 and 4 is constructed of a single strand of wire and each diver'gesfrom its oint of connection with the hook '2 to provide its end with enlarged or spread loops 5 and 6. The loops are adapted to slope from their point of connection with the hook 2 gracefu ly toward their spon coat whlch they are adapted to support. The numeral 7 designates the sustaining arts so arranged as to attain a enlarged loops 5 in a configuration corre ing with the shoulder portions of the said lopps are preferably arran tion with each other.
member of the device. This member 7 is also preferabl constructed of a single strand of wire avin a suflicient rigidity to retain the arms 3' and 4: and the loops 5 and 6 connected therewith 1in a roper spacedrelation and to also prevent t e sagging of the sand loops 5 and 6. ;The member 7 com- "prisesa central longitudinally extendin ar 8 having its 0 poslte ends formed with loops 9 and 10 w 1ch correspond with their 100 s 5 and 6 of the member 1. The loo an 9 and 6 and 10 are secured together I? suitable binding comprisin stri s of small wire being wound around t e sai 100 s.
From t e above description, taken n. connection with the accompanying drawings, it will be noted that the coat sustaining por-. tion of the hangeris not only of an. extremely simple construction but i'sextremely ligiht and embodies greatstrength and r1- gi 1ty. p
The sustaining member 8 is preferably centrally provided with a loop .11, and the hook 2 has its vertical ortion projecting downwardly and form with a suitable 100 or hook 12 which is adapted to en age wit the said loop 11. member 8 of the member 7 is furt er rovided with additional loops 13. and 14. ev at an equidis tioned in a diametrically opposite direction from the said loop 11. These 100 s 13- and 14 are adapted for the reception 0? substantially V-shaped bails 15 and 16." Each of these bails are constructed of some suitable resilient material and are ada ted to support the longitudinally extending strips 17 -and 18 formlng the trousers hanger of the device Surroundin each of the 10opsf15' and 16 are rin or c asping members 19 and 20, and it wil be notedthat a downward movement of the said rings will force the V-shaped resilient 100 s together so as to cause the strips 17 an 18 to tightly grasp the trousers positioned therebetween. The approximately V-shaped loops 15 and 16 are referably serrated so that the ring memers 19 and 20 will firml grip the same and sustain the strips 17 and 18 1n proper rela- Having thus fully described the invention, what I claim as new is p In a device of the class described, a wire hook, wire arms connected with the hook and extending in diametrically opposite di- The lon "tu inal ance from the loop 11 an are posias I -reotions therefrom, com'vrlsmg a smgle element and dlverging oonnectlon gra ually from their point of in loops, 2
with the hook and. terminating longitudinally extending brace or ing member also constructed of wire, member having its extremities formed wlth loops, and a binding adapted to be wound around the loops the arms and the loops reinforcsald each of said wire arms of the brace lHBl'l'lbOl to connect the same t-o- 10 gether.
tune in presence In testimony whereof I affix my sigma of two Witnesses.
