To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, lVILLIAM A. PARKER, citizen of the United States, residing at Atlanta, in the county of Fulton and State of Georgia, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Plow-Stocks, of which the following is a specification.
This invention has relation to plow stocks, and has for its object to provide a simple and durable structure susceptibleof adjustments in order that the plate carried by the standard may be pitched at a desired angle with relation to'the forward portion of the beam.
Also it is the object of the invention to so shape the beam that it will effectually hold and brace the standard in its adjusted position, whereby the said parts. may be rigidly held together when the stock is in use.
For a full understanding of the invention reference is to be had to the following description and accompanying drawings, in which:
Figure 1 is a perspective view of the stock; Fig. 2 is a transverse sectional view of the same cut on the line 22 of Fig. 1.
Corresponding and like parts are referred to in the following description and indicated in all the views of the accompanying drawing by the same reference characters.
As indicated in the drawing the beam 1 is formed from metal channeled upon its opposite sides and having at its upper and lower edges outstanding beads 2. These beads extend the entire length of the beam and the rear portion of the beam is arcuately formed as at 3. A bolt 4 passes transversely through the intermediate or web portion of the beam 1 at the forward end of the arcuate portion 3 thereof, and a bolt 5 passes transversely through the web portion of the said beam at the rear end of the arcuate portion 8 thereof. A standard 6 is provided and this standard consists of spaced side bars 7, the upper portions of which are arcuate as at 8 and fit snugly against the opposite sides of the web of the beam at the arcuate portion 8 thereof with their upper and lower edges fitting Specification of Letters Patent.

snugly between the upper and lower beads upon the beam. The side bars 7 have elongated slots 8 which receive the bolt 1 and the beam has an elongated slot 9 which re ceives the bolt 5. Therefore it will be seen that by loosening the bolts 4 and 5, the upper arcuate portion 8 of the standard 6 may be moved in an are along the arcuate portion 3 of the beam 1, whereby a plate (not shown) carried at the lower end of the standard 6 may be pitched at a desired angle with relation to the forward or straight portion of the beam 1. When the parts are properly adjusted the bolts 4 and 5 are tightened and the said parts are secured. By reason of the fact that the arcuate portions 8 of the bars 7 are snugly received between the beads 2 at the arcuate portion 3 of the beam and also snugly receive between them the web of the said beam at the said portion, the beam and standard are effectually braced and relative movement or vibration of the parts is prevented. Thus it will be seen that a stock of simple structure is provided and that the parts are susceptible of adjustments to meet occasion or fancy, and when the parts are secured they are effectually held in adjusted positions.
Having thus described theinvention, what is claimed as new is:
1. A stock comprising a beam having an arcuate rear portion provided at its opposite sides with outstanding beads, a standard consisting of spaced side bars having arcuate portions which fit snugly against the opposite sides of the arcuate portion of the beam and which fit snugly within the beads and lie slidably adjustable therebetween, and bolt and slot-securing connection between the arcuate portions of the beam and standard.
2. A stock comprising a beam having a rear arcuate portion provided with outstanding beads, a standard composed of spaced side bars having arcuate portions which snugly lit against the sides of the arcuate portion of the beam and which snugly fit between the beads and lie slidably detachable therebetween, the arcuate portion of the beam having at its rear end an elongated slot, and the forward portions of the side bars of the standard having elongatedsslots, and securing bolts carried by the beam and standard respectively and passing through said slots.
