  • This invention relates to incandescent lamp sockets and particularly to what are known as pull sockets having a rotary switch member operated by a chain or other flexible device passing out through one side of'the shell of the socket, such as is shown and described in U. S. Letters Patent 649,303 issued May 8, 1900; and the object of this invention is to provide improved means forfixture of the class specified provided with my improvement.

Be it known that I, NATHAN KLTIN, a subject of the Emperor of Austria-Hungary,
and residing at New York, in the county of New York and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Attachments for Incandescent- Lamp Sockets, of which the following is a specification, such as will enable those skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
This invention relates to incandescent lamp sockets and particularly to what are known as pull sockets having a rotary switch member operated by a chain or other flexible device passing out through one side of'the shell of the socket, such as is shown and described in U. S. Letters Patent 649,303 issued May 8, 1900; and the object of this invention is to provide improved means forfixture of the class specified provided with my improvement.
In the drawing forming part of this specification I have shown at a an ordinary incandescent lamp socket provided with the usual electric bulb (1?, indicated in dotted lines and a shade or globe a i The socket a is provided with a rotary switch operating member similar to the patent hereinbefore referred to and said member is operated by a chain or other flexible device I) which passes out through the side of the casing of, the socket a, as shown and described in said patent. All these features of the construction being well known are not shown and described in detail herein.

My improvementis simple in construction and also comparativelyv inexpensive and may be applied to incandescent lamp sockets of any kind or'class'having a rotary switch member, and means for operating the same, passing out through one side of the lamp socket.
My invention is not limited to the exact means shown and described for connecting the arm 0 with the socket all that is necessary in this connection being to connect said arm with said socket so that it will project radially therefrom and forming a support for the crank lever (Z. V
It will be also understood that my invention is designed particularly for use in-connection with what are known as hanging o depending lamps which employ globes ei shades, the object being to provide means for operating the flexible switch member which will not come in contact with the globe or shade when applied to overhead, hanging or depending lamps.
Having fully described my invention what I claim as new and-desire to secure by Letters Patent is 1. The combination with an incandescent lamp socket having a switch operating device which passes out through one side thereof, of an arm rigidly secured to said socket and projecting radially therefrom, anda crank lever pivoted to said arm, one part of said crank lever being connected with said switch operating device and the other being provided with. a depending member by which it may be operated.
