IMPROVEMENT IN HARNESS.
The Schedule referred to in these LettersvPatent and making part of Athe same.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, ELzY L. The nature of my invention consists in 'the construction and arrangement of' harness, as will be hereinafter fully set forth.
In order to enable others skilled in the art to which my invent-ion appertains to make and use the same,'
I will now proceed to describe its construction and operation, referring .to the annexed drawings, in Which-- Figure 1 is a side View of the entire harness.
Figure 2 is a plan View of the front end.
Figure 3 is a plan View of the crupper; and
Figure 4 is afront view of the harness.
A represents the strap which passies around the breast 0f the horse. To the ends of this strap the traces B B are attached by means of buckles C, as seen in fig. l. v
From the lower edge of thc breast-strap A, in front,
passes a round piece, D, for the support of the tongue. This round piece D passes through the breast-strap, and its ends are secured to buckles, E E, at the upper edge of' the breast-strap. In these buckles is attached another strap, (l, which passes over the neck of the horse. f
H represents the crupper, and is, hy straps I I, connected with the side straps; said straps I I passing in front of the hips ofthe horse, and support-ing the side straps.
From the erupper H a loop, J, extends forward through which it is intended to pass the bridle-rein.
Having thus fully described my invention,
What I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
1. The pole-strap D passing through the breaststrap A, as and for the purposes set forth.
2. The combination of the strap A, straps I I, loop J, and crupper H, all substantially as set forth.
In testimony that I claim the tbregoing,I have hereunto set my hand this 10th day of' January, 1870.
