` Be it; known that I, RICHARD M. buckle-for the back or" saddle-band, the belly-band, and a supporter-for `the trace or tng-strap, andiscomposed of a single plate -bent into the form shown, into the buckle A--of' which the back or saddle-ban'dfis secured, andin the loop L the belly-baud,vwhile the trace or tug-strap passes through and issnpported by theoblong loop D, in suoli manner as toallow it to move back and forth to aceolnmodateitself tothe motion ofmthe whiletree and the shoulders ofthe horse, and also serves as a means for holding up thetraces when the horse is unhitched, thusavoiding the neces` sity of having to tie them up, and to prevent the traces from rubbing against and wearing the hair from the horses sides.

I claim- A bucklefor the back or saddleband,consisting of a single plate bent and formed as described, and adapted also as a loop, D, for the tug or trace, and a loop, L, for the belly-band, as herein shown-and 'deseribed. l
