Letters Patent No. 101,024, dated March 22, 1870.

IMPROVEMENT IN FRUIT-CANS.

The Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent and making part of the name.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, ISAAC Kmne, of Seymour, in the county of Jackson and State of Indiana, have invented certain new and useful Improvementsin Fruit- Gans; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawings and to the letters of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.

The nature of my invention consists in the construction of a fruit-can, as will be hereinafter fully set forth.

In order to enable others skilled in the art to which my invention appertains' to make and use the same, I will now proceed to describe its construction and op- The edges of the cover 0 fit around the ,edges of the can, extending downward into the groove a,aud the wax being then poured into said groove, the can is hermetically sealed.

Upon the upper surface of the collar B are stamped the names of the different fruits to be canned.

Upon the upper surface of thecover O is stamped an arrow, and after the can has been filled with the desired fruit, the lid should be put on, in such a way that the arrow will point at the name of the fruit contained therein.

The object and advantages of this are too obvious to need any mention.

Having thus fully described my invention,

What I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-

A fruit-can having a collar, B, extending at right angles from its mouth, and provided with groove a, as and for the purpose described.
