To all whom it may concern: I
Be it known that I,GEORGE P. BUMP, a
citizen of the United States, residing at La Crosse, Wisconsin, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Methods of Fastening Paper Sheets and the Like, of whichthe following is a specification.
My present'invention relates to the methodof fastening paper or like sheets together, such as is disclosed in my application for Letters ;Patent of the United States filed May 14, 1909 #495,985, my present invention being a division of the subject matter disclosed therein.
In the accompanying drawings z 'lFigure 1 is a plan view of two superimposed sheets with the tongue out therefrom, and the slit cut therein in accordance with the first step,
in my method; Fig. 2 is a sectional View of the fastener of Fig. 1; Fig. 3 is a View similar to Fig. 2 showing the next step in the method in which the tongue is folded back and is beingv drawn through the slit; and Fig. 4c is a View of the completed tongue.
In carrying out my method, the superimposed paper sheets are cut to form the tongue 1 and are slit at 2. The tongue is folded back and is then drawn through the slit, the intermediate part of the tongue being doubled up and entering the slit first and this continuing until the point or end of the tongue passes through the slit and snaps or straightens out over the upper "sheet. These actions are illustrated in Figs. 3 and 4E.
