EYEGLASS-CASE.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, JAMES E. BOYLE, a citizen of the United States, residing at Lancaster, in the county of Lancaster and State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Eyeglass-Cases, of which the following is a specification, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawing.

This invention relates to an eye glass or spectacle case of that class which is provided with a receptacle for holding a suitable material with which to clean the glasses.

The object of the invention is to provide a case of this class which shall be light, compact and durable.

Another object of the invention is to provide means for retaining the cleaning material in a compact and sanitary manner and without unduly increasing the size of the case.

Still another object of the invention is to employ a cleaning material of such a form.

With these and other objects in view, my invention consists in certain construction and combination of parts as will hereinafter be fully described and claimed and illustrated in the accompanying drawings which form a part of thisapplication, and in which like figures of reference refer to corresponding parts in all of the views; but it is fully understood that while I have here described my invention as shown, that I do not confine myself to the exact design, as slight changes may be made in the construction and arrangement of the several parts without departmg from the spirit of the invention.

The adjacent edges of the receptacle member are abutting, and the member 10 ,is held in a closed position by a tension spring 15, mounted on the hinge rod 12, with its loops 13, bearing upon said member 10, and its ends upon the case bottom. WVithin said two part tubular receptacle is placed a roll 14, of paper or other suitable cleaning material which may be perforated at intervals to facilitate removing portions therefrom, and which may also be imprinted with advertising matter. 9, and 10; the pressure of the member 10, being of just sufiicient tension to allow the paper to be easily Withdrawn without raising the member 10, which is only done to insert a new roll.

I have shown some modification of the construction of the receptacle for holding the cleaning material in Figs. 7, to 12, in elusive, comprising as shown in Figs. 7, and 9, a tubular receptacle 16, having its edges brought together and provided with the hinge eyes 17, for engagement with the hinge rod 12, and open on its ends and provided with a slot 18, in the side thereof, for the paper to be drawn through; the roll of cleaning material 14., being inserted from one end when the receptacle is swung in the position shown in Fig. 7.

The modification shown in Figs. 9, and 10, comprises a receptacle 19, U-shaped in cross-section, having its rear edge provided with the hinge eyes 20, for engagement in the case hinge, and having its forward edge held in contact with the bottom of the case by the tension spring 15; a longitudinal slot 21, being formed in the body thereof, for the delivery of the paper, as the same may be delivered from under the forward edge between the receptacle and the case bottom,

In a device of the class described, the combination with means constructed to retain a pair of glasses comprising a case and a cover hinged thereto, of a tubular shaped receptacle secured within said case, said tubular receptacle closed at the ends when swung into the case, and open at the'ends when swung into the cover.

2. In a device of the class described, the combination with means constructed to engage and retain a pair of glasses of a tubular member for retaining a cleaning material hingeably secured within said device.

3. In a device of the class described, the combination with means constructed to retain a pair of glasses, comprising a case and a cover hinged thereto, of a tubular shaped receptacle secured therein, said tubular shaped receptacle provided with open ends and with a, delivery opening in the sides thereof.

4. In a device of the class described, the combination with means constructed to re tain a pair of glasses of a tubular receptacle hinged therein, said tubular receptacle formed with open ends and provided with a discharge opening in the side thereof.

5. In a device of the class described, the combination with means constructed to engage and retain a pair of glasses comprising a case and a cover hinged thereto, of a tu-' bular shaped receptacle secured to the hinge of said case and designed to retain a roll of cleaning material, said tubular receptacle provided with open ends and a delivery opening in the side thereof.
