To all whom 'it may concern:

Be it known that I, ALVIN S. REICHEL, a' resident of Point Marion,y in the county of Fayette and State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Ironing-Boards, of which the following is a speclfication.

This invention relates to improved means for removably securing an ironing board to a wall or other support, the purpose beingto provide for readily connecting and disconnecting the board; also to provide an improved brace for the board.

In vthe accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is a vertical section of the board in operative position, the plane of section being line 1--1 of Fig. 2. Fig. 2 is a top plan of thesame. Referrin to the drawings, 2 designates an ironing oard of usual or any preferred dimensions, and secured to one end thereofl is the angular .plate-like member 3, from whichA project outwardly the securing members each consisting of shank 4 and head 5. In the preferred construction the under portion 4 of shank 4 is shorter than the upper portion 4, for the purpose presently to be described.

The board is supported primarily by a socket-formed member secured to a wall W or other sustaining means. In the present embodiment, the support consists of horizontal channel member 6, having its closed face 7 disposed outwardly and formed adjacent one end with the slot 8 of bayonetslot form open through the upper face of channel member 6, as indicated at 8', while `opening inwardly from the opposite end of the channel support is slot 9. With the construction of Fig. 5, both headed prpjeci 4to complete the connectionl The inner vertical sides of heads 5 are inclined so that the heads may be inserted in the slots of the supporting member with the outer end of the board lowered, and hence when the board is brought to horizontal position the lower edges of the heads clamp the portions of the support immediately beneath the slots, as shown in Fig. 4, the Shanks of the heads being of -such length that when the heads are inserted .in the slots they lie close to the inner face of the support. l

The board may be braced in its extended upper end hinged at 12 to the under side ,of the board, and at its lower end having pin 13 pivoted thereto and removably entered in the vertical socket 14 secured to lwall W. The parts are preferably so proportioned as to cause the brace arm to exert upward pressure of the board, yraising the latter slightly and sufficiently to cause the lower thickened portion 5 of each head to cramp or bind the portions of wall 7 beneath the slots and thus hold the board from slipping horizontally and preventing it from being accidentally disconnected.

When not in use the board may be readily taken down and put out of the way, and when in position for ironing or other work it is securely fixed and stoutly supported.
