To all whom it mag/concern: ta'cles. A stationary cap 15 is fitted over Be it known that I, lVEsLnY G. KRAFT, the upper end of eachof the receptacles 19 citizen of the United States, residing at and 11 and is formed with a deppnding. Marion, in the county of Marion and State flange 16 having a bead or rib l7 fitting over mi of Kansas, have invented certain new and the bead 14.. The cap 15 is adapted to be useful Improvements in. The lower ends of the and is of such shape that it snugly engages receptacles or holders l0 and 11 are probetween the receptacles and meets the upper vided with concaved bottoms which are cenedges of the companion plates 12. Spaced trally apertured for the reception of stopslots 28 are formed in the top plate 27 1 95 pers 13. The upl bles 26. The upper companion plate 12 is per ends of the receptacles 10.and 11 are I provided with spaced slots 29, one being each formed with an annular outwardly disposed in advance of the other, to receive pressed bead 14 which is spaced slightly the outer ends of the short arms of the below the upper edge of each of the receplevers 23 and 24. The inner companion plate 1.2 carries a pair of helical springs 31 Which are attached at their outer ends to the long arms of the thumb levers 23 and 24 above the pins 25. The springs 31 are employed t'or normally holding the thumb levers and El against the lower ends ot the slots 28.
The operation of the device is apparent, since the device is grasped in one hand and the thumb of the hand is placed upon either one of the buttons 80. When the button is depressed, for instance the button marked S, the thumb lever is swung down Within the slot 29 and the upper or outer extremity of the thumb lever is moved through the slot 28 and carries therewith the thimble 26,1otating the cap 18. The caps 15 and 18 are provided in the usual manner with. a plurality of apertures which are adapted toregister upon the rotation of the cap 18 to admit of the escape of the contents of the adjacent receptacle or holder. When the button 80 is released the spring 31 which is attached to the thumb lever-23 retracts the same and closes the caplS. In a similar manner the opposite holder 10 may be opened to admit of the escape of the pepper contained therein.
this of course understood that this device may be used in connection with other substances than salt andpepper as the apertures through the caps and 18 may be made in any size desired.
