JOHANN PTASCI-IINSIH, OF ST. PETERSBURG, RUSSIA.
SPUR.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Oct. 24:, 1911.
Application filed February 21, 1910. Serial No. 545,198.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, J OI-IANN PTASGHINSKI, residing at St. Petersburg, Russia, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Spurs, of which the following is a specification.
The invention relates to a spur which is secured to the heel by means of a bifurcated bolt engaging the spur-fork. In spurs of the kind wherein bolts are used which are already known, the bolts are secured by screwing them into the spur-fork. This mode of securing the spur takes time and is ineflicient, as dust and damp can easily penetrate into the thread, and there is danger of the holes for the bolts becoming choked with dust and rust thus causing difficulty in unscrewing the bolts, and producing a rapid wear of the threads. According to this invention these defects are overcome by the use of a bolt one extremity of which is bifurcated so that upon the said extremity being forced to penetrate into a suitable recess in the spur-fork it is clamped tightly and holds the bolt in the required position.
The invention is shown by way of example in the annexed drawing in which- Figure 1 is a plan View in partial section of the spur in a position for use. Fig. 2 is a plan view of the spur in a loose position. Fig. 3 is a View of the boot-heel. Fig. 4 is a portion of the securing bolt.
The bolt 1 has a split springy extremity 2 which is forced to penetrate the cavity 3 of the spur-fork 1, whereby the bifurcated parts are sprung apart and press so hard against the sides of the cavity that the bolt is prevented from becoming loose. So far as the other details of the spur-fork are concerned, they are constructed in the usual manner; it is provided with an opening 8 into which the pin 6, arranged on the heel of the boot enters. The heel is provided with a passage 7 through which the bolt 1 is passed. The extremity 5 of the bolt 1, serving as a handle, is made, in the shape of a button.
Having now particularly described and ascertained the nature of my said invention and in what manner the same is to be performed, I declare that what I claim is:
In a means for securing spurs to heels, the combination of a spur-fork, one arm of said spur-fork being provided with a socket, a bolt adapted to pass through a hole of the heel and through a recess in one arm of said spur-fork and provided with a bifurcated spring-shaped portion for engagement with said socket, substantially and for the purpose as described.
In testimony whereof I afiix my signature in presence of two Witnesses.
J OHANN PTASOHINSKI.
