APPLICATION FILED APRJB, 1911.

MATTHEW M. LOORAM, OF NEW YORK, N. Y.
STORAGE-ROOM.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Oct. 3, 1911.
Application filed April 18, 1911. Serial No. 621,955.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, MATTHEW M. LOORAM, a citizen of the United States, residing at New York, in the county of New York and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Storage- Rooms, of which the following is a specification. I
This invention relates to storage room either portable or stationary.
The object of the invention is to provide a structure of this character, having an exterior wall of non-porous or glazed material, and having situated within the inner face a recess which is filled with a lining of porous or moisture absorbent material, there being an opening formed through the outer wall at one or more points, through which a limited area of the inner moisture absorb-- ent material extends and is exposed to the outer atmosphere.
Further objects and advantages of the invention will be set forth in the detailed description which now follows.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is a view, partly in section and partly side elevation, of a portable storage room or car constructed in accordance with the invention. Fig. 2 is a partial sectional view through a storage room, illustrating the floor and the lower portion of the side walls as being of absorbent material. Fig. 3 is a like view in which the ceiling and the upper portion of the side walls are of moisture absorbent or porous material.
Referring to the drawing the numeral (5) designates a storage room, in this instance shown as of a portable nature and in a form of a car. The outer walls (6) are closed or are otherwise rendered non-porous or impermeable to moisture. The inner walls or linings (7 are of porous and moisture absorbent material.
In Fig. 2 only the lower portions of the side walls are shown, the inner face (8) being recessed near the lower portions thereof, and a portion of this recess extending through the outer face (6 as shown at (12). This recess is filled with a lining of absorbent or porous material (7 The outer face (6") is impervious or glazed. The bottom portion of the receptacle is also covered with absorbent material (7 The outer wall (6 in Fig. 3 corres oonds to the outer wall (6a) in Fig. 2 and and (7 corresponds to the parts (7 and (7 of Fig. 2. This is merely a modification showing the absorbent filled recessed portion at the top of the receptacle instead of at the bottom.
From the foregoing description it will be seen that simple and efficient means are herein provided for accomplishing the objects of the invention, but while the elements shown and described are well adapted to serve the purposes for which they are intended, it is to be understood that the invention is not limited to the precise construction set forth, but includes within its purview such changes as may be made within the scope of the appended claim.
Having described my invention, what I claim is:
A humidor comprising a side wall impervious to moisture a portion of its inner face recessed adjacent to the bottom, portions of said recess extending through said side wall to the outer face thereof and a filling of absorbent material seated in and completely filling said recess and the por tion thereof extending from the interior to the exterior face of the wall.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
MATTHEW M. LOORAM.
