Therefore the stop 6 is not subjected to any great extent to either strain and the frictional contact between thesaid stop and bottom of the groove branch 10 is merely enough to prevent the bit from having a tendency to turn -in the holder 1 when thebit 8'is turned in a direction opposite to that in which the bit is Iuriied when 'it is performing the boring operation. Therefore it will'be seen that undue friction between the stop 6 and the groove branch 10 is eliminated and hence these parts are not subjected to unnecessary wear and when it is desired to disconnect the bit- 8 from the holder 1 it is necessary only to pull the said bit in aA direction away from the end of the holder when the lug 13 will be moved away from the recess aiidl then the said bit is free to rotate in the holder. l until the stop G is brought into alinement with the lower or inner end of the A groove 9 when the said stopmay be moved along the saidgroove and the bit 8 is sep- -arated from the holder 1.
