UNHED STATES PATENT enrich.
WALTER OLIE WALSTON, OF ASHEVILLE, NORTH CAROLINA.
CLOTHES-LINE.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, lVALTER O. WALSTON, a citizen of the United States, residing at Ashtiville, in the county of Buncombe and State of North Carolina, have invented new and useful Improvements in Clothes-Lines, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to clothes lines and more particularly to pinless clothes lines.
The object of the invention is to provide a pinless clothes line which may be dissected or taken apart and bundled up for transportation or storage, and which may be put together so as to produce a line of any length as is desired.
A further object of the invention is the provision of a simple and eflicient pinless clothes line composed of a plurality of removably connected links, each so formed as to produce biting jaws which will hold a plurality of garments.
Further objects of the invention will appear as the following specific description is read in connection with the accompanying drawings, which form a partof this application, and in which Figure 1 is a side elevation of a plurality of links. Fig. 2 is a perspective view of one of the links.
Referring more particularly to the drawing, the clothes line is composed of a plurality of interconnected links, each of which are constructed of a single strand of wire 1 bent upon itself to form separate runs 2 and 3 and the loop 4. The loop 4 is bent inwardly so as to lie parallel with the sides or runs 2 and 3 which are separated from each other a considerable distance at the ends of the device to form openings 5. The bent end portion of the loop forms a pair of loops 6 which are adapted to be engaged by the hooked ends 7 of the runs 2 and 3, so as to connect the separate links. The runs are twisted together intermediate their lengths, as shown at 8, so as to form clamps for the garments which, in practice, are in- Specification of Letters Patent.

sorted in the openings 5 and forced into the twisted portion where they will be firmly secured against accidental displacement.
It will be noticed that the links of this line may be readily disconnected or connected together without the use of tools, and that each end of the link is provided with openings or spaced portions which permit the ready insertion of the clothes. It will also be noticed that the part which is bent in'from the loop 4 holds the terminal ends of the runs in separated relation and thereby prevents collapsing of these ends and the ready insert-ion of the clothes.
Having thus described the invention, what I claim as new is 1. A pinless clothes line comprising a plurality of connected links, each link comprising a single strand of wire bent upon itself to form separate runs, the terminal ends of said runs being formed into loop engaging hooks, the looped end of said runs be ing bent inwardly to form separated loops to engage the hooks, and the said runs being twisted together intermediate the hooks and loops.
2. A pinless clothes line made up of a plurality of connected links, each link comprising a single strand of wire bent upon itself to form a loop and separate runs, the terminal ends of said run being formed into hooks, the looped end of said links being bent inwardly to form a separating member which spaces the hooks apart, and forms separate loops for the engagement of the hooks, the runs being twisted together intermediate their ends to form clamping jaws, and the portions of the links between the twisted parts and the ends being separated to form entrance openings.
In testimony whereof I affiX my signature in presence of two witnesses.
\VALTER OLIE WALSTON.
