Abstract

A concrete mixing drum includes a wall having a first section (41) and a second section (43). The first section (41) extends in a spiral along an axial centerline (31) of the drum. The second section (43) is formed in the form of a spiral around the axial centerline (31) of the drum and is butted to the first section (41) by a seam (58). The first vane (32a) extending from the inner layer of the first section (41) and the second vane (32b) extending from the inner layer of the second section (43) are intended concrete displacement inside the drum (16) at rotation. A first ramp (40b) extends from the inner layer of the first section (41) near the first side of seam (58) and the second ramp (40d) extends from the inner layer of the second section (41) near the second side of seam (58). The vanes (32) and ramps (40) are integrally formed with each of sections 41 and 43 as a single unitary body. The ramps (40) help to simplify assembly of the sections (41, 43) and reduce the seam (58) wear due to removal of concrete therefrom at the drum rotation. To further minimize any wear a channel (64) above the seam (58) is filled with a material of which the inner layer of drum is made.
