Abstract

A method includes heating charge containing manganese-ore raw material and reducing agent, feeding charge in the electrical furnace and smelting. At heating charge as reducing agent a mixture of silicon carbide with carbon is used in the amount providing charge ratio of silicon carbide to manganese 0.01-0.15. Heating charge is performed at the rate 100-200 °C per minute to 800 °C and then at the rate 30-75 °C per minute to the temperature of softening manganese-ore raw material and smelting ferroalloys is carried out at the residual content of silicon carbide and carbon in the charge 0.1-3.0 %, respectively.
