A method of rolling billets is disclosed. For the purpose of increase of manufacturing efficiency of process and decrease of wear of rolls, the breakdown is formed consisting of rectangular billets connected together by cross connections on the facets. The local metal deformation in the area of cross connections is produced up to the contact of the facets throughout their entire width, after which the longitudinal separation of billets is performed by rolling breakdown in the smooth rolls with relative reduction, which is equal, at least, to two-fold relative thickness of cross connections.
