Abstract

The present invention provides an F-shaped microstrip planar antenna layout operated at a band of 5.8 GHz of a radio frequency identification system. A glass fiber board is etched thereon to form the antenna layout of an F-shaped microstrip radiation element which is short to the ground. The antenna includes a small antenna of a 16.8x13 mm ground surface. The signal is fed in through a co-planar waveguide. Based on the abovementioned experiment, the ratio of the simulated return loss to the measured return loss of the antenna is obtained. When the return loss is less than -10 dB, the simulated impedance bandwidth is 320 MHz (5.68-6 GHz); and an optimal impedance match is obtained at 5.8 GHz. With respect to the measured data, an optimal impedance match is also obtained at 5.8 GHz, and the bandwidth is about 640 MHz (5.52-6.16 GHz) or 11% (corresponding to the central frequency of 5.8 GHz). Therefore, the antenna has a simple layout and low cost, and the operation bandwidth can be used in not only a radio frequency identification system, but a WLAN (wireless local area network) of 5.8 GHz band to provide a broader usage benefit.
