The connecting plate includes first and second mounting flanges and a member extending between the first and second mounting flanges. The first mounting flange is attached to the counter-spring housing. The second mounting flange is adapted to be connected to a chassis of a vehicle between two frame rails. Each saddle has a spacer frame/frame-like geometry or configuration. In addition, each saddle has a top surface including two raised portions and a flat portion extending between the two raised portions. A plurality of partially cylindrical seats extend downwardly from the two raised portions, the seats having through holes extending downwardly from the top surface. A longitudinal edge of the flat portion of the top surface contacts a rib extending between the partially cylindrical seats. A frame-like body of the saddle contacts a lower end of the rib and extends between the partially cylindrical seats and downwardly to a lower surface of the saddle. The body of the saddle includes a wavy portion and a trapezoidal opening above the wavy portion. The lower surface of the saddle has two flat portions and a concave cutout extending between the two flat portions. Each spring cover has an inner side, an outer side opposite the inner side, first and second mounting portions, and a window-shaped opening defined by the two side walls, a top wall, and a bottom wall. The first mounting portion is positioned above the top wall. The inner side of the first mounting portion is flat and adapted to be flush with a carrier frame rail. The second mounting portion is positioned to the side of the rectangular opening. The outer side of the second mounting portion is flat and adapted to be flush with the connecting plate, which connects the spring covers together. The two side walls each include a recess adapted to receive one end of a spring element. The top wall has a dome-shaped configuration to avoid sharp edges so that when the spring element contacts the top wall, a spring element in the rectangular opening is less likely to be damaged.
