Abstract

This invention provides a cold storage apparatus which comprises a storage for storing an object being refrigerated, such as polished rice, in a substantially closed condition, and a Peltier cooling device for absorbing heat in the storage through side walls thereof to discharge the same. Heat generating equipment such as a heat exhaust unit of the Peltier cooling device and a power device for supplying electric power to the Peltier cooling device are arranged facing one side surface of a housing to provide the cold storage apparatus, such as rice chest, which is small in size but high in cooling efficiency and can be used easily in general home. Further, heat from the power device and the heat exhaust unit of the Peltier cooling device is used to perform evaporative treatment on drain generated on an heat absorbing side, so that it is possible to provide the cold storage apparatus which is free of trouble involved in drain treatment and can be used safely.
