Abstract

A method for producing a liquid crystal display device for mounting driving IC chips on a liquid crystal transparent substrate, which is characterized in that: a common gate line (SHg) situated inside of ends of a transparent insulating substrate (SUB1) to surround the central portion of the transparent insulating substrate, a plurality of gate lines (GL) one ends of which overlap a square region (IC) for mounting a gate scan driving circuit provided inside of the common gate line and the other ends of which are connected to the common gate line, a plurality of drain lines (DL) intersecting with the plurality of gate lines via an insulating film, a plurality of input wires (Tg) overlapping a side of the region for mounting the gate line scan driving circuit, opposed to a side thereof which the plurality of gate lines overlap, which are not connected to the plurality of gate lines and the common gate line, and pixel electrodes and thin film transistors disposed in regions respectively surrounded by the plurality of gate lines and the plurality of drain lines, are formed on the transparent insulating substrate at initial stage production steps; thereafter, a rubbing process is performed and at least a portion of peripheral portions of the transparent insulating substrate where the common gate line is formed, is removed.
