Abstract
A process of producing 6-hydroxy-2-naphthoic acid, which comprises the following steps: (a) reacting #]-naphthol with metal alkali to form naphthol salt: (see claim 1) in which M is alkali metal potassium or alkali metal element with molecular weight higher than potassium; (b) allowing the naphthol salt to undergo carbonylation reaction with carbon dioxide after removing most water; (see claim 1) (c) dissolving the reaction product in solvent and adjusting the pH of resulting solution to weak alkalinity; (d) allowing the resulting solution to undergo acetylation with vinyl acetate at 160 deg.C; (see claim 1) (e) adjusting pH of the resulting solution to obtain acetylated compound: (see claim 1).
