Abstract

Provided is a material for anode buffer layers, which permits use of an organic solvent as the solvent for forming a light-emitting layer, and which can form an anode buffer layer that is not dissolved even when an organic solvent solution for the formation of a light-emitting layer is applied thereon, and which can provide an organic EL element with high electric power efficiency and a long life. Specifically provided is a composition for anode buffer layers, which is characterized by containing: a high-molecular compound that comprises structural units represented by general formula (1) or (2) and that has a weight-average molecular weight of 20,000 to 1,000,000 as determined by GPC; and an electron-accepting compound. In general formulae (1) and (2), multiple Ras are each a hydrogen atom or alkyl, with at least one Ra being alkyl; multiple Rbs are each a hydrogen atom or alkyl; multiple Rcs are each a hydrogen atom, alkyl, or the like; X is a single bond or the like; Y is a structure derived from vinyl or the like; and p is 0, 1 or 2.
