Abstract

Disclosed is a phosphor for light-emitting devices which is a blue phosphor mainly containing a Ce and Na activated thiogallate phosphor represented by the following chemical formula: BaGa2S4:Ce,Na. This blue phosphor emits blue light when it is excited by being irradiated with ultraviolet light (especially with near ultraviolet light having a wavelength of 370-410 nm). Also disclosed is a light-emitting device which is characterized by comprising a light-emitting element irradiating ultraviolet light and a light-emitting portion containing the phosphor for light-emitting devices. This phosphor is used for light-emitting devices such as LED lamps having high luminance.
