Abstract

A cold cathode fluorescent lamp, comprising glass tube having fluorescent body layer in the inner wall surface and rare gases and mercury enclosed within the interior,and a pair of electodes arranged at two ends of said glass tube, characterized in that the electrodes are formed by a Ni alloy including at least one element selected from Ti, Hf, Zr, V, Fe, Nb, Mo, Mn, W, Sr, Ba, B, Th, Be, Si, Al, Y, Mg, In, rare gases, with the total amount above 0.001 mass% and below 5.0 me ass%, and the rest being Ni and impurities. In view of the electrode made by not only the Ni single body but also the Ni alloy with above compositions, the discharge property, antioxidative activity, anti sputtering property, anti-mercury reaction property can be increased, so that high luminescence and longer service life can be realized.
