Abstract
This invention relates to a single-phase brushless motor. It suppresses the reduction of the phase difference between the generated torque and the detent torque. It is a cause for inducing vibration and noise, and to reduce the torque ripple. This single-phase brushless motor comprises a stator, and a rotor. The stator 14 is wound with a coil 27 at the salient pole teeth 26 of a stator core 23. The rotor 15 has annular permanent magnets 21 that are arranged in the radial direction, so as to oppose the stator core 14 with air gaps. Distances between the center of the stator core 23 and tip faces 30 of the salient pole teeth 26 are made to differ from one another between both ends in the rotational direction of the salient pole teeth 26. Therefore, the magnitudes of the air gaps have differences between both the ends in the rotational direction of the salient pole teeth 26. The relationship between a minimum air-gap length d1 and a maximum air-gap length d2 between both the ends in the rotational direction of the salient pole teeth 26 satisfies the criterion of d1: d2 from1: 2 to 1: 3.
