Abstract
The present invention is to provide a method for processing waste water, which is an effective means for removing boron from waste water containing high concentration of boron and a means for effectively removing iodine after removing boron when the waste water contains not only boron but iodine, The method for processing waste water comprises an adjusting step for adjusting the pH value of waste water containing iodine and/or iodine ions and boron and/or boron ions within the range of 8 to 14; a condensation step for condensing the concentration of boron and/or boron ions (in terms of boron) to 0.5% by weight or more; a precipitation step for cooling the solution obtained by the condensation step aforementioned while adjusting the pH value of the water within the range of 1 to 7 so as to precipitate boron; and a separation step for removing the precipitation obtained from the previous precipitation step of boron and separating boron and/or boron ions.
