Abstract

A cold cathode fluorescent lamp has a gas sealed glass tube with an inner space in which rare gas is filled. A lead extends from outside into the inner space. One end of the lead is connected to a cup electrode which is disposed in the inner space. The cup electrode has a first metal layer serving as the outer surface of the electrode, a second metal layer serving as the inner surface of the electrode and a sintered metal layer disposed between the first and second metal layers. The lead is connected to the second metal layer. The second metal layer has a lower melt point than the sintered metal layer. The first and second metal layers are easily reduced by the sintered metal layer.
