Buluş, bir banknot yarığı tespit yöntemi ve aparatı ile ilgili olup, aşağıdakileri içermektedir: korunan bir optik iletim görüntüsünün banknota toplanması için bir görüntü toplama birimi (20); görüntü toplama birimi tarafından toplanan bir banknot görüntü sinyalinin alınması için bir ön işleme birimi (30); bir yarığın mevcut olup olmadığını tespit etmek için bir yarık tespit birimi (40); banknotun nitelendirilip nitelendirilmediğinin belirlenmesi için bir belirleme birimi (50); ve yukarıdaki birimlerin işleminin kontrol edilmesi için bir kontrol birimi (10).
