Abstract
DC60 (12/05/54) L-glutamic acid is produced by culturing microorganisms of the genus Enterobacter or Serratia that are capable of producing L-glutamic acid in liquid culture media. This is indicated by either increased or decreased activity of enzymes that catalyze the biosynthesis of L-glutamic acid, or a deficiency or lack of activity of enzymes that catalyze branching out from the L-glutamic acid biosynthesis pathway, resulting in the production of compounds other than L-glutamic acid, and the accumulation of the produced L-glutamic acid from the culture media. L-glutamic acid is produced by culturing microorganisms of the genus Enterobacter or Serratia. These microorganisms are capable of producing L-glutamic acid in liquid culture media. This is indicated by either increased activity of enzymes catalyzing the biosynthesis of L-glutamic acid, decreased activity, or deficiency in the activity of branched enzymes involved in the L-glutamic acid biosynthesis pathway. Furthermore, there is the production of compounds other than L-glutamic acid, and the accumulation of this produced L-glutamic acid from the culture media.
