Abstract

A more common composition is 0.5 to 30% cationic softener and 0.25 to 40% lanolin (with a ratio between...). The ratio of cationic softener to lanolin is between 20:1 and 1:20, and viscosity regulators range from 0.5 to 50%. Lanolin can be substituted with other lanolin-like substances, such as one or more derivatives of the active constitutives of lanolin, which may be extracted from lanolin or obtained from other sources. The typical concentration of the mixture is less than 300 cc, typically ranging from 150 to 250 cc. The use of lanolin allows for the preparation of concentrated products, especially when lanolin content exceeds 10%.

Claims

1. The components of a liquid fabric softener with a viscosity of 150 to 300 CP, and consisting primarily of water and a cationic fabric softener, shall also include: 1) Lanolin or a lanolin-like substance (as specified herein) in an amount greater than 10% by weight; 2) One viscosity regulator, chosen from (a) an electrolyte; (b) a polymer as specified herein; (c) a hydrocarbon with 12 to 40 carbon atoms, including its halogenated derivatives; (d) a fatty acid with 9 to 24 carbon atoms; (e) an ester of a fatty acid with a monohydric alcohol, where the ester has a total of 10 to 40 carbon atoms; (f) a fatty alcohol with 10 to 18 carbon atoms; (g) aqueous miscible solvent for use with cationic fabric softeners.

2. The fabric softening composition as claimed in claim 1, the weight ratio of lanolin or lanolin-like substances to cationic fabric softeners is between 0.05:1 and 20:1. (Clause 3 is illegible.) (2 claims, 1 page, - image)
