Abstract

PURPOSE:A hair cosmetic having improved oxidative stability and a great affinity for water and moistening materials, comprising a hydroxyl group-containing saturated ester as an oil base. CONSTITUTION:A cosmetic comprising one or two or more types of esters of a>=16C saturated alcohol having a side chain and a 12-hydroxystearic acid, e.g. 2- hexyldecyl -12-hydroxystearate. The hydroxyl group in the molecule permits good affinity and compatibility with moistening materials and surfactants, and great miscibility with liquid paraffin and castor oil, forming a good emulsion. Oxidative stability is good due to no unsaturated bond in the molecule.
