Enzymatic liquid detergent mixtures are clear, single-phase mixtures containing a water-stabilizing softener comprising (a) one or more anionic surface-active detergent compounds of approximately 8 to 20% by weight; (b) water-soluble non-phosphate detergent softening salts of approximately 5 to 25% by weight; (c) the minimum amount that produces the enzymatic effect or a selected enzymatic mixture from a group consisting of alkaline protease enzymes and alpha-amylase enzymes; (d) an enzymatic stabilizing system, by weight of the detergent mixture, comprising (i) propylene glycol of approximately 1 to 25%; and (ii) boron compounds of approximately 1 to 5%, selected from a group consisting of boric acid, boric oxide, and alkali metal borates; and (e) water of approximately 25 to 75% by weight. These liquid detergent mixtures are assumed to be free of cross-linked polyacrylate polymers.

A washing method consisting of contact between soiled and/or dirty clothing to be washed and a clear, single-phase liquid detergent mixture containing an enzyme consisting of (a) one or more anionic surface-activating detergent compounds of approximately 8 to 20% by weight; (b) a water-soluble, non-phosphate detergent softening salt of approximately 5 to 25% by weight; (c) the minimum amount that produces an enzymatic effect or a selected enzyme mixture from a group consisting of alkaline protease enzymes and alpha-amylase enzymes; (d) an enzyme stabilizing system. By weight, this detergent mixture contains (i) propylene glycol from approximately 1 to 25% and (ii) boron compounds from approximately 1 to 5%, selected from groups including boric acid, boric oxide, and alkaliborate metals, and (e) water from approximately 25 to 75%. This liquid detergent mixture is considered to be free of cross-linked polyacrylate polymers.
