Abstract

A velocipede is a two-wheeled or three-wheeled bicycle with a frame suitably attached to a central unitary frame mounted behind the headstock. The front fork of a two-wheeled bicycle extends down from the headstock and serves as the mount for the front wheel, which is propelled by a lever system. The rear fork is a separate beam from the main axle, extending rearward and sloping downward. In the case of a three-wheeled bicycle, instead of forks as described above, a frame is used to mount each rear wheel. The handlebars extend from the headstock, and the long saddle slopes upward and backward from the headstock.

Claims (8)

1. A unicycle bicycle consists of a pivot axle mounted in a pivot housing, a handlebar attached to the upper end of the pivot, a front fork attached to the lower end of the pivot, and a front wheel mounted to rotate between the front forks. The lever and pedal system are designed to work with the front wheel. The saddle extends backward and upward from the pivot housing. The rear structure extends downward and backward from the pivot housing, and at least one rear wheel is mounted to rotate between the rear forks. 2. A monoframe bicycle under claim 1 has a pivot point at the front of the central monoframe structure, with one or more supports serving as pivot points, a saddle mounted on top of the central monoframe structure, and a rear section attached to and supported by the lower section of the central monoframe structure. 3. A monocoque bicycle under claim 1 or 2 has a saddle that is long and narrow, extending from the rear of the pivot point and sloping upwards. This saddle is angled between 5 and 25 degrees to the horizontal. 4. A monocoque bicycle under claim 3 has a saddle that is a separate bar from the main axle, extending rearward from the axle housing, creating space below the saddle and above the rear wheel. 5. A single-frame bicycle under any of the claims 1 through 4, when assembled, shall function as a two-wheeled bicycle with a rear frame consisting of a rear fork protruding from the axle mount, rotating backward and slanting downward, and a rear wheel mounted so that it can rotate between the rear forks. 6. A monocoque bicycle under claim 5 has a rear fork that extends from the main axis, out of the pivot point towards the rear and slanting downwards in a straight line intersecting the pivot point at the pivot point. 7. A single-frame bicycle, as described in any of the claims 1 through 4, when assembled into a tricycle, has a rear frame structure that supports two rear wheels, one on each side, and is designed to carry weight between the two rear wheels. 8. A monoframe bicycle, as defined in any of the previous claims, shall use wheels with a diameter less than or equal to 500 millimeters and a distance between the centers of the front and rear wheels less than 750 millimeters.
